Homework for the Week of September 19-23

J4R Homework for the Week of September 19-23
LITERACY – Spelling and Word Study/Writing
1. Do the Back to School puzzle photocopied for you.
2. Mrs. Jenkins talked about our theme for the year ‘A Better World’ in our Assembly on Friday. She urged us to think what that could mean for example for our classroom. Write 3-5 sentences on what you think we all could do to make our class ‘A Better Class’.
LITERACY – Reading
1. Think of a character in any book that you have connected with. Why is it? Draw the character and write about your connection to her/him/it.
2. Think of the reading you have done this week at home. Choose one of the texts/parts of the text. Think of questions to do with the text using the 5 W’s: What? Who? When? Where? Why?
MATH
1. Do the Digit Values sheet given to you.
2. Go to http://www.ixl.com. Then choose Fourth grade. Do either A2 or A3. Remember, the program lets you work only for about 10 minutes a day. Maybe you want to work on this on two nights.
HUMANITIES
1. Draw a map of your room. Try to make it as detailed and accurate as possible. Try to think how to draw your furniture from bird’s eye view.
2. Discuss with your parents which direction your home is facing. Maybe you have a compass at home. Try to mark into your map of your room the compass points: North, South, East and West.
